narrative>> loodown was adjudicated through a public tender from remavesa who were renovating the entire riverside edge of vallenar, an agricultural and mining town situated in a valley on the edge of the atacama desert. the loopdown design is self supporting through four rigid masts that penetrate the inverted cones of the membrane through the loops, providing tensioning points for a series of horizontal spars that spread the edge cables . the highly articulated surfaces generates a series of landmark shades along the riverside, and the loops both filter and conduct the light, establishing chromatic contrast and intrigue. loodown is generic solution for freestanding shade and the entire deployment of each unit took just one day.
